ALL:
Each January, all recipients are required to provide proof of income, shelter/fuel expenses, and assets (please see attached 2022 recertification document for further guidance), which shall be forwarded to DVS in accordance with 108 CMR 4.02(3). In a few weeks, the 2022 re-certification process will begin. On December 1st, you will be able to submit your VS-21A requests for reimbursement of January - June 2022 benefit payments.
DVS recognizes that our recipients’ ability to procure and forward the 2022 re-certification documents to your office maybe difficult. Social Security (SSA), Social Security Disability (SSDI), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and Federal Veterans Affairs monthly benefits will receive a 5.9% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase in January 2022. The Medicare Part B premium deductible is also projected to increase from $153.50 to $171.50
Take $1,088 and multiply by the 5.9% COLA Increase (.059) then add that amount to the 2021 monthly benefit amount.
{1088 x 0.059 = 64.19}, {1088 + 64.19 = $1,152.19 (2022 New monthly benefit)}.
To ensure that there are no disruptions in the recipient’s benefits and your community to receive full reimbursement for any veterans’ benefits expenditures and to comply with the deadline, all Notices of Intent (NOIs) must be issued no later than January 21, 2022. If the NOI is not resolved, a Notice of Action (NOA) should then be issued on February 7, 2022 or fourteen (14) days after the date of the NOI.
